NOW® Sports Waxy Maize is a complex starch extracted from non-GMO corn and consists of 90% amylopectin, a high-molecular-weight, highly-branched polysaccharide. Due to its complex structure, amylopectin is slowly absorbed by the body, but once absorbed, it is readily assimilated by muscle tissue and converted into glycogen. Glycogen is a stored carbohydrate that serves as a sustainable pool of glucose that the body readily uses for energy production during exercise. Waxy maize also supports glycogen resynthesis long after you have finished your workout, maintaining energy levels throughout the day.
